Zu ihren Glanzzeiten war Mexicana nicht nur die größte Airline ihres Landes, sondern in den 1970er Jahren auch die größte Exportkundin des einst so populären Trijets von Boeing. Als Teil einer limitierten Sonderserie zum 100. Jubiläum ihrer Gründung trägt diese zwischen 1974 und 1995 betriebe 727 die klassische Bemalung aus den 1970er Jahren.
