Daten zum Vorbild: Der „Roland“, sein Name leitet sich vom Wahrzeichen der Stadt Bremen ab, verkehrte anfangs als Fernschnellzug
auf der Strecke Bremen–Frankfurt. Der TEE Roland entstand zum Sommerfahrplan 1969 durch die Hochstufung
des F 46/47, der bisher Basel SBB erreichte, ab diesen Zeitpunkt allerdings bis Mailand verlängert wurde. Mit
1.183,7 km hatte er eine der längsten Laufstrecken unter allen TEE-Zügen.
