Ausführung mit Rundlogo
Um für den Einsatz vor Schnellzügen auf nicht elektrifizierten Strecken
ausreichend schnelle Zuglokomotiven im Bestand zu haben, bestellten
die französischen Staatsbahnen (SNCF) 1965 neue Diesellokomotiven
der Serie CC 72000. Beim Design der Loks war Paul Arzens beteiligt,
welcher schon mehrere Lokomotiven mit der charakteristischen „Nez
cassé“ (gebrochene Nase) entworfen hatte. Aufgrund der Ölkrise wurde
ab 1973 die Indienststellung der CC 72000 beendet, der Betrieb erfolgte
mit den 92 im Bestand befindlichen Diesellokomotiven.
