Der Ford Kuga ist das erste europäische Modell von Ford im beliebten Segment der SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle). 2008 stellte Ford in Genf mit dem Kuga als Kompakt-SUV einen Nachfolger für den Ford Maverick vor. 2011 präsentierten die Amerikaner die zweite Produktgeneration, die in Nordamerika unter dem Namen Escape vertrieben wird. Die Markteinführung in Europa erfolgte erst im März 2013.

Ende 2016 spendierte Ford dem Kuga ein Facelift, bei dem Front und Heck überarbeitet und zahlreiche Assistenzsysteme eingeführt wurden. Diese Version war ab Ende 2016 bestellbar und kam Anfang 2017 auf den Markt. Erstmals gab es den Ford Kuga auch in der luxuriösen Vignale-Variante und in der sportlichen ST Ausführung. Gebaut wird der europäische Kuga, der auf der gleichen Plattform wie der Ford Focus von 2011 steht, im Ford-Werk in Spanien nahe Valencia. Beim Euro-NCAP-Crashtest bekam er alle 5 Sterne. Das Busch-Modell zeigt den Ford Kuga ´17 – Facelift der zweiten Modell-generation von 2016 bis 2019.
