Metalldruckguss-Fahrgestell. Motor mit Schwungmasse. Antrieb auf 4 Achsen mit 2 Haftreifen. Schnittstelle nach NEM 651 zur Aufnahme eines Digital-Decoders.
Dreilicht-LED-Spitzenbeleuchtung und rote Zugschlussbeleuchtung, mit der Fahrtrichtung wechselnd. Mit schaltbarer Maschinenraumbeleuchtung im Digitalbetrieb. Kulissenmechanik beidseitig. Kupplungsaufnahme NEM 355.
Das Modell ist eine ideale Zuglok für die Nachbildung des EuroCity-Zuges EC 22/23 „Johann Strauß“ von Wien Westbahnhof nach Köln (u. zurück). Die deutsche Elektrolokomotive der BR 103 blieb Anfang der 1990er-Jahre auch auf der österreichischen Westbahn vor der Wagengarnitur.
