CCCP-77109 war eine von zwei TU-144S, die von 1977 bis 1978 im regulären Liniendienst zwischen Moskau und Alma-Ata, der damaligen Hauptstadt der sowjetischen Teilrepublik Kasachstan eingesetzt wurden. Für die Flugdistanz von 3.260 Kilometer benötigte die TU-144 im Schnitt zwei Stunden.
