Im März 2020 beging TAP Air Portugal ihren 75. Geburtstag, ausgerechnet zum Zeitpunkt des Ausbruchs der Corona-Krise in Europa. Die Airline gab sich also gezwungenermaßen eher bescheiden, obwohl sie durchaus mit Stolz auf die Erfolge der letzten 75 Jahre zurückblicken kann. 1945 als zunächst kleine Fluggesellschaft als Transportes Aéreos Portugueses gegründet, ist sie heute wichtiges Mitglied der Star Alliance, zuständig vor allem für die Verbindungen von Westeuropa nach Brasilien und Afrika. 2018 war sie Erstkunde der modernsten Version des Airbus A330, der A330-900neo.
