Die 24 009 gehörte zu den fünf nach dem Krieg bei der DR verbliebenen 24ern. Es war die einzige Lokomotive dieser Baureihe die länger im Einsatz war. 1970 kam die Maschine zum Bw Stendal und erhielt noch die damals neue EDV-Nummer 37 1009-2.
