Mit der Einführung der EDV-Nummerierung bei der Deutschen Reichsbahn
erhielten auch die, vormals als Baureihe 23.10 bezeichneten Lokomotiven,
die neue Reihenbezeichnung 35.10. Die Lokomotiven waren ein
Entwicklungsergebnis aus den beiden Vorserienlokomotiven 23 001 und
23 002. Die Lokomotiven der Baureihe 35.10 waren vor allem wegen des
niedrigen Kohleverbrauchs und des ruhigen Laufs beim Betriebspersonal
sehr beliebt.
